Every Dog Deserves Peace of Mind
At Airplane Ears, we believe mental enrichment is a right, not a luxury. Here is how we can all help bring comfort and calm to dogs waiting for their forever homes.
Foster & Adopt
Fostering, even for just a weekend, gives a rescue dog a crucial break from kennel stress and provides shelters with valuable information about how the dog behaves in a home. If you're ready to adopt, start by checking out local heroes, or use nationwide directories like Petfinder to find a dog whose energy matches your lifestyle.
You can also extend your compassion globally. In countries like China, harsh local policies often result in stray dogs being captured and euthanized. Both of our own dogs, Kumi and Hershey, were saved from these exact conditions. We proudly advocate for supporting overseas shelters that facilitate international adoptions—like the incredible team (@voicesfordogsrescue) who brought Kumi and Hershey to us.
Volunteer Locally
Shelters run on the dedication of their communities. If you can't bring a dog home, offering your time is incredibly impactful. Taking a shelter dog on a quiet, decompression walk (a "sniffari"), reading to shy dogs to help them socialize, or simply assisting with laundry ensures that shelter staff can focus on critical care.
Donate Enrichment
Shelters are constantly in need of durable enrichment tools to keep dogs occupied and calm during long days in their kennels. High-quality lick mats, slow feeders, and durable chew toys are always in high demand. Consider donating lightly used enrichment items, or purchasing directly from a local rescue’s supply wish list.
Our Daily Reminder
Everything we design at Airplane Ears is inspired by the joy of seeing dogs feel safe, engaged, and understood. Our own pups, Hershey and Kumi, are our daily reminders of how transformative a mindful, enriching environment can be. We are committed to building a community that helps every dog experience that same level of care.
